Insurance Coverage

Kaiser Doula Benefit

As of January 2025, many Kaiser Permanente plans cover doula support. To check to see if your plan includes doula coverage, login to your Kaiser account and view your “Evidence of Coverage” paperwork, or call Kaiser Member Services directly at 1-855-839-7613.

My Kaiser Doula Support Package includes the following:

  • Initial In-Person Onboarding Meeting

  • In-Person Prenatal Visit: Childbirth Education & Birth Planning (28 Weeks)

  • In-Person Prenatal Visit: Labor Prep & Practice (36 Weeks)

  • Three Virtual Prenatal Visits: Breastfeeding, Newborn Care, Childbirth Education

  • In-Person Postpartum Visit: Birth Debrief, Feeding, Postpartum Care

  • Two Virtual Postpartum Visits: Newborn Care, Feeding, Postpartum Care

Kaiser will also cover two extended three-hour visits from a Postpartum Doula. As I am not currently practicing as a Postpartum Doula (due to having my own little ones at home!), I offer referrals and assistance facilitating a relationship with a trusted Postpartum Doula who can provide this service.

Please note that Kaiser’s Doula Benefit does not cover Birth Photography.
If Kaiser clients are interested in Birth Photography in addition to Doula Support, photography services can be contracted separately at the same discounted rate offered to private paying clients who choose “The Complete Birth Journey” listed on my Birth Photography Services.

Insurance Reimbursement

If you have an insurance provider other than Kaiser Permanente, you may still be able to have your insurance cover doula support! Clients with other insurances pay out-of-pocket and are then provided with all documentation needed to file a claim with their insurance company, including an insurance letter, an itemized statement, receipts of payment, proof of doula certification, and National Provider Identification (NPI) number.
